As you may recall, Oakley and Barkley have bad blood going back to their playing days over 20 years ago.
Charles Oakley must have heard enough from Charles Barkley.
When asked about Barkley’s comments and whether he believed it would impact the Hawks’ performance, James said, “That’s Chuck being Chuck”.
Charles Barkley has been known to ruffle more than a few feathers on Inside the National Basketball Association as he’s quite the vocal on-air personality who isn’t afraid to share his opinions at all.
“Oh, man, you can’t say that on national TV”, Shaquille O’Neal said on TNT.
“When a team is just embarrassing you shooting threes when the game is way over, just trying to set a record”, continued Barkley. He also defended their pursuit of the single-game record for three pointers made – a mark that they did break – arguing that “records are made to be broken”. Game 3 is Friday night on ESPN, and we’ll see if the Hawks actually took Barkley’s suggestion seriously or if they’re not even considering it. But if it’s contact in an attempt to set a the tone, change momentum and suggest they’re exhausted of playing doormat to the Cavaliers, there’s no problem with that. You can’t be upset with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Oakley admitted to punching Barkley during one of the union meetings.
“Charles oakley doesn’t like me”, he said. I think for us and for those guys, we want to bring a physicality to the game. “I have no idea why”.
