Chelsea had sold Luiz to French champions PSG for a whopping £50 million just two years ago.

While the signing of Luiz will no doubt be at the forefront of fans’ thoughts, the news that Diego Costa is staying at Stamford Bridge is also a massive boost for the club.

Chelsea produced the biggest surprise of the summer transfer window by re-signing David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain on deadline-day as Manchester City streamlined its bloated squad by sending a quartet out on loan.

David Luiz and fellow deadline day signing Marcos Alonso will be welcomed by Antonio Conte, who had made clear his intentions to bolster the London side’s defensive stocks.

France midfielder Sissoko appeared set for a move to Everton before Spurs nipped in to sign the player, having earlier completed a deal to bring Olympique de Marseille forward Georges-Kevin N’Koudou to White Hart Lane in a five-year deal. The Spanish left-back and Cuadrado were team-mates for one season at Fiorentina and now the Colombia winger has returned to Serie A and is back with Juventus on the day Alonso moved to Stamford Bridge.

Luiz, who won two consecutive Ligue 1 crowns with PSG, said he wanted to fight for more trophies with Chelsea.

Chelsea were keen to bolster their options at centre-back, with Kurt Zouma’s ongoing recovery from injury leaving John Terry and Gary Cahill as Antonio Conte’s only fit, experienced options. Everybody knows I have a feeling for this club.

Costa arrived at Chelsea that summer, and developed a reputation as one of the Premier Legaue’s most unsafe – and aggressive – strikers following a string of goals and controversial incidents. Of course I want to win the Premier League and of course I want to win all the titles again.
