Luke Shaw out of FA Cup final and Euros

“We are dependent on Manchester City, that’s the difference and that’s also frustrating when you had the chance two matches before the end to keep that advantage”, he said.

A large number of Manchester United fans are calling for the club to sack Louis van Gaal at the end of an uninspiring Premier League campaign.

The Red Devils can still finish fourth if United beat Bournemouth and Swansea City can do Van Gaal’s side a favour against the Citizens on Sunday.

Van Gaal has been under intense pressure since December and former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is known to have spoken with United officials.

Shaw, 20, has been out of action for the Red Devils since suffering a double leg break against PSV Eindhoven in Champions League in September. “I don’t have a club and I was waiting for these guys [the FIFA Legends] to win the match to give me a hand but because I lost the match it’s even more hard to get a club!”

“Still, I have to remind you that we can qualify ourselves”, he said. Not many. Our aim was to qualify. How many clubs can say that?

He said: “You have to evaluate yourself and also the staff and the players”.

‘I think that will be it [missing out on the top four], he will be gone, and Jose Mourinho will be the next manager, ‘ Merson told Sky Sports.

“You know as a club, we will always invest in the squad to the extent that we feel we need to so that we’re challenging for titles”.

Van Gaal has one year left on his United contract, having originally wanted to sign a two-year deal only to be persuaded to ink a three-year agreement with the club. In this hard situation, I am still doing it. I always put targets and I have always said after this job I go spoiling my wife.

“We have to change that and that is very important”. We need to play well and focus on that game, nothing more.

United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward was positive about the financial results but also matters on the field, although he did not mention manager Van Gaal in his statement.

Although Manchester United are much closer to the top four than they were a couple of seasons ago, a loss against Bournemouth on Sunday will see them record their lowest points tally in the Premier League era.
