The 13-year-old girl and her mom, who wish to have their identities remain unknown, say there actually was money in her account and the school still denied her lunch. Ms Bowden, who worked at Irving Middle School in Pocatello in the south east of the state, said a supervisor placed her on leave after witnessing what she had done.
“I love my job, I really do”, she wrote on the page.
Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad said he met with Howell to discuss the effect the termination has had on the city.
After the students family found out what happened they’re sharing their side of things and say, this situation should have never happened. So unhappy #lunchlady #dalenebowden should not return to in that school in the event in that they select to take her back!
“My heart hurts”, Bowden told KPVI. Bowden said. “We’re supposed to take the tray away and dump it, right there in front of them, and I couldn’t do that”. The city received dozens of phone calls about the incident, and the Pocatello social media networks were overflowing with comments about the firing.
Another part of the note read the district felt the former lunch lady’s firing was in the school’s “best interest”.
The district circulated a press release on Wednesday saying that Bowden was welcome to return to the lunchroom.
Dalene Bowden was sacked from her job in an Idaho school for giving a student a free meal.
School district spokesperson Shelley Allen told the Idaho State Journal that parents are notified when their child’s unpaid cafeteria balance reaches $11 – and that after that point, students are still offered milk and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

The petition had 77,000 signatures from around the globe as of Thursday morning. “I got the letter”, she explained. “The District works daily to help children who are hungry, who need healthcare, who are homeless and who are neglected and/or abused”. I feed just to get terminated?
