Lupita Nyong’o In Talks For Marvel’s Black Panther
Who, exactly, that character is is being kept under wraps, and looking to the pages of Marvel Comics is unfortunately not much help, since T’Challa’s biggest love interest is Storm, who’s now in the hands of 20th Century Fox and starring in their slate of X-Men films. He kicked six different varieties of ass and it got us all really excited for his upcoming solo movie slated for February 18, 2018.

Lupita Nyong’o will likely land a lead role alongside Chadwick Boseman in Marvel’s first black superhero movie, Black Panther. Well, that may be her next stop as she’s now in talks for a role in Black Panther according to a new report by THR. “N’yongo’s character”, they write, “has not been revealed although she will be the Panther’s love interest”. Nerdist has reached out to Marvel for separate confirmation but has not received a reply at time of publication.
N’yongo last appeared as the alien Maz Kanata in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and lent her voice for the wolf Raksha in “The Jungle Book”. In the comics, Black Panther has had a long-running on again/off again relationship and marriage to Ororo Munroe, better known as the X-Men’s Storm. That’s just maybe the coolest name in the history of character names, so we’re really crossing our fingers here. This one is being directed by Creed’s Ryan Coogler.
