Lupita Nyong’o Starts the New Year Right With First ESSENCE Cover

Lupita Nyong’o graces the cover of Essence Magazine’s January 2016 issue. Golden girl! The 32-year-old’s front cover appearance is a first for Essence Magazine as Nyon’o has consistently been praised for being a style icon whenever the celebrity struts and poses for photographers on the red carpet.

The Mexican-Kenyan beauty became an overnight hit in Hollywood after portraying a slave in the 2013 historical drama, and she collected a number of top trophies, including the coveted Best Supporting Actress Academy Award in 2014.

Amid the chaos of the Liberian Civil War, the captive wives of a rebel officer band together to form a fragile community-until the balance of their lives is upset by the arrival of a new girl.
