So, because I love “The Best Man“, “Barbershop” and most importantly “Love and Basketball”, I’m gonna pretend this “Perfect Guy” thing didn’t happen.

Romantic thriller The flawless Guy looks to have narrowly beaten M. Night Shyamalan’s horror-thriller The Visit at the North American box office with $26.7-M from 2,221 theaters.
Here’s another interesting note.
“The ideal Guy” opened in the number one spot at the American box offices this weekend. With a relatively low $12 million budget, the film is already earning money, and is a big success for the three leads. Sanaa Lathan, Michael Ealy and Morris Chestnut starred int he film. Apart from that, she is also an accomplished Broadway actress and was nominated for her performance in “A Raisin in the Sun“.
Coming in not far at second place is M. Night Shyamalan’s The Visit with $25.43 million.
The movie “War Room“, which follows a couple who decide to work on their marriage through prayer, grossed more than $7 million at the domestic box office. It was reportedly being said that the female audiences helped “The flawless Guy” to secure the first place spot.
“90 Minutes in Heaven”, based on the true story of a pastor’s near-death experience after a horrific automobile accident, came in ninth in its debut weekend with US$2.2 million.
Tom Cruise and Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation made a surprise appearance in the top five for the movie’s seventh week of release, earning $4.2 million ($188.2 million total).
“Teaming up with producer Jason Blum was a smart move for Shyamalan, and the film will be another profit center for Blumhouse productions and Universal”, Rentrak analyst Paul Dergarabedian wrote.
Ranked fourth was “A Walk in the Woods”, with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte, at US$4.6 million. The Star Wars prequels’ Hayden Christensen plays Baptist minister Don Piper, who finds himself temporarily in the afterlife following a near-fatal vehicle crash, while Kate Bosworth portrays his wife, Eva.
New offerings at the specialty box office included Oren Moverman’s homeless drama, Time Out of Mind, starring Richard Gere, and Sleeping With Other People, starring Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie.

“It bodes nicely for the longevity of the movie”. These movies could have gotten lost if they’d opened later in the year, such as in November, where more blockbuster and high-profile Oscar contenders are released, or earlier in the year, during the busy summer months. Sony has banked $39.2M to date. The film now has $13.3 million domestically and $23.3 million worldwide from a $22 million budget.
