M’Vila reveals ‘heartbreak’ over collapsed Sunderland move
Spare a thought for French midfielder Yann M’Vila.

Yann M’Vila says that he has been left “heartbroken” after failing to land a permanent move to Sunderland.
The 26-year-old Frenchman featured 37 times for Sunderland last season after joining on loan from Rubin Kazan, but he was ultimately unable to seal a permanent transfer to Wearside over the course of the summer transfer window.
M’Vila is believed to have travelled to the United Kingdom of his own volition but, with Rubin having set an £8.5m asking price earlier in the summer and showing no signs of being willing to compromise, that left the player kicking his heels in London hoping in vain for a last-minute breakthrough. Despite being out of contract at the end of the year Rubin were demanding £7million and they refused to budge on the price.
Instead, Sunderland concentrated their efforts on bringing in Lorient midfielder Didier Ndong for £13.6m, and Manchester City defender Jason Denayer on a season-long loan.
The transfer deadline passed without the announcement of a deal for M’Vila and the midfielder went back on Instagram later to express his dismay with Sunderland’s failure to get in contact.

“Why?” M’Vila wrote on Instagram in a post that has now been deleted. Most likely he will engaged on better terms than he would have received had the Premier League club had to pay a transfer fee.
