MA gas prices down a penny

The $1.39 a gallon gas in Lafayette is the lowest price according to GasBuddy, which counts on motorists to report price information.
Pump prices in Georgia have been on the decline for 20 days in a row, the group said, and for 23 days nationwide.
The agency predicts an average price of $2.33 for 2016, which is down slightly from $2.43 in 2015, and more than $1 less than 2014’s average price of $3.36.
That’s according to a weekly survey out Monday by AAA Northeast, which says the average price rose a penny from last week.
Locally, according to GasBuddy late Saturday afternoon, the Sam’s Club at 600 W. Central Texas Expressway and Memory Lane in Harker Heights had the cheapest gas at $1.65.
Chicago prices are at $2.30 per gallon. DeHaan said gas stations have actually been losing money with prices as low as they are.
Both Kalamazoo and Van Buren counties are averaging the cheapest gas prices with an average of $1.60 per gallon.
Gas prices have been trending down for months based on oversupply of oil. Prices in South Florida tend to be higher because of higher taxes and higher costs for land, rent and other expenses.

Almost two-thirds of the nation’s 130,000 gas stations now are selling regular unleaded for under $2 a gallon, a remarkable change from a year ago, when 0% of stations were under $2.
