MacKinnon scores 2 to lead Avalanche past Canadiens 6-1
Early in the 1st Period the Montreal hit goalie Reto Berra with a barrage of shots. This is a trend that would continue throughout the game as Montreal threw everything but the kitchen sink at the Colorado netminder. And he does! His two speedy scores gave the Avalanche a 3-0 lead. Montreal then tipped the ice in their favor and began racking up the shots.

Semin only scored one goal when he was playing regularly during the first 10 games of the season, and Therrien indicated that he wasn´t happy with that level of production.
2 goals in 13 seconds?
Thirteen seconds later, it was 3-0, courtesy of MacKinnon. He added to that total in the first period when he scored a pair of goals just 13 seconds apart.
Condon took to the bench for the third period.
“He’s got a quick release and a fast shot”, said Condon.
Saturday’s 6-1 win over Montreal was achieved in a shocking manner. Duchene also had two assists to give him eight points on the trip.
Mikhail Grigorenko, filling in on the top line for the suspended Gabriel Landeskog, had a goal and set up both of MacKinnon’s scores. His great read and shot resulted in the offensive zone faceoff that swung momentum in the Avs favor after a very strong stretch from Montreal.
Kings 4, Oilers 3: LOS ANGELES – Nick Shore scored the go-ahead goal with 1:39 left in the third period to lift Los Angeles. On the rush at high speed, MacKinnon drove the net and redirected a Grigorenko feed. Can the NHL’s best-performing team so far this season trounce one of the worst, or are the tricolore in for a surprise? He has such a great IQ, and he’s a good shooter.
Yes Nathan MacKinnon will have to carry this team into a playoff spot, but he’s carrying the team now, and I don’t see any reasons he’ll stop. In addition, you can guarantee the majority of the opposing team’s eyes are on Nathan with the puck, leaving Colorado players to find gaps and openings where MacKinnon will find them. “If I make that save, I think it’s a different game”.
The Avalanche on Sunday announced they claimed center Chris Wagner off waivers from the Anaheim Ducks and placed goalie Semyon Varlamov (groin) on injured reserve retroactive to November 10. Grigorenko got his stick on it before turning at the hashmarks and firing home his first of the season.

ST. LOUIS (AP) – Patrick Kane broke a tie late in the second period to extend his point streak to 12 games and lead Chicago over St. Louis.
