Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 2015 hits NYC

City officials estimate 3.5 million spectators will crowd New York City to watch Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day Parade, held under tight security two weeks after the attacks in Paris.

It wasn’t just the giant balloons people got to see when they craned their necks skyward at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The parade draws crowds from West 77th Street, where it begins, downtown to the parade’s end point at West 34th Street and Herald Square, around noon.

Paradegoers – and watchers of the NBC broadcast – were treated to pop-culture mainstays Mickey Mouse and Snoopy balloons, of course, as well as 10 new balloons and floats, including an Angry Birds character and the squirrel from the hit movie “Ice Age”.

Sure the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a beloved NYC family tradition that appeals to people of all backgrounds. As many as 50 million people worldwide were expected to watch the parade on their televisions.

She directed and stars in the upcoming Markham film A Christmas Melody, which will premiere next month, and is set to appear at New York City’s Beacon Theater for her All I Want For Christmas Is You concert series throughout December.

Mayor Bill de Blaio says the event kicks off a season of appreciation.

Officials have said there are no known, credible threats against NY. The parade also featured many celebrity performances, including Mariah Carey, country singer Jake Owen, Virginia native Chris Daughtry and pop singers Andy Grammer and Jordin Sparks.

Police walked alongside numerous parade groups and helicopters hovered overhead amid the enhanced security following the November 13 attacks in Paris. “We all have Thanksgiving dinner here.”The family was among tens of thousands of spectators who lined Woodward Avenue for Americas Thanksgiving Parade. “They are trying to make us change our lifestyle, change our values, lose our spirit”.
