While there is always a large security presence at the Macy’s parade, it will be especially large this year, including officers from the NYPD’s Critical Response Command and Strategic Response Group, police said.

Let’s take a moment to be thankful for the very real, very incredible exposure the parade gives these shows: About 23 million people are expected to tune in.

Raven’s Aerostar division has produced more than 90 large balloons for the parade, including every large character balloon except one since the Macy’s relationship started. The pair will join the band made up of 185 of America’s most talented high school musicians.

“Our entire band came back from grand nationals this year, where we placed 7th out of 96 odd bands”, says Sarah.

“This is an iconic event”, SFASU Associate Director of Bands David Campo said in a press release. In addition, spectators will get a sneak preview performance from NBC’s “The Wiz Live!” which premieres Thursday, December 3 (8 p.m. ET/PT).

“As soon as they put the uniforms on, people went nuts”, she said. It’s a high school band trip, after all.

The parade route will stretch 2.5 miles, first down Central Park West, then across 59 Street and down Sixth Avenue to 34 Street.

“The challenge is that, unlike a football field, there are no lines on the street to help with orientation”, Campo said.

Greetings from the Big Apple! They headed to NY City to dance in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Among those performing in the parade Thursday include singer Jordin Sparks, R&B artist Trey Songz, newcomer Andra Day and the Grammy-winning rock band Train.

Macy’s will find out how many people click through its promoted Twitter moments to see clips from its annual Thanksgiving Day parade and related content. Today we had our first full rehearsal with the band. She has plans to camp outalong the parade route at 3 a.m. Wednesday so that she can get a good view.

“I’m trying not to have too many expectations other than I have prepared myself to do my very best”, Elder explained shortly after arriving in NY.

“It all just adds up to this consistently great experience”, said Lovinger.
