‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ Minus Visual Effects Might Blow Your Mind

Obviously, these scenes look very risky, but Fury Road had some of the best stuntmen at their disposal. An awesome behind-the-scenes video from George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road is making its way around the internet, mostly because it’s still wonderful (more than a year after release) to see how they actually shot so much of this film realistically, with big rigs and insane vehicles and huge explosions. Watch the footage from Mad Max Fury Road without visual effects and try not to get too pumped.

Guy Norris, the film’s supervising stunt coordinator, told Rolling Stone that making the film felt like going to war, as he “oversaw a small army of stunt people – up to 150 at a time – during more than 300 sequences…”

The footage reveals that the stunts in the film are nearly just as mind-blowing without any CGI added in yet.

This is not the case with Mad Max. “A compilation of pre-production tests, behind-the-scenes video and raw footage from the film”.

A huge amount of the moving vehicle action in the film is not touched by CGI, as you’ll see in the video. The solve is finding ways to include as many practical effects and makeup as possible then only enhancing it with special effects, which is exactly what director George Miller did. How cool is it to see so many real life explosions?
