‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ shines at Critics’ Choice Awards

The 34-year-old is, of course, making light of her past year which saw her first movie gross over $100-million at the box office, and win multiple statues including an Emmy and a Peabody for her zeitgeist-hitting Comedy Central TV series “Inside Amy Schumer”. Spotlight’s Tom McCarthy and Josh Singer also came out on top.

The star also accepted the best sci-fi/horror film award for Ex Machina, in which she stars opposite Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson. The film’s star, Alicia Vikander, called the movie “the best experience I’ve had”.

His co-star, Brie Larson, also took home the Best Actress award for her role playing Tremblay’s mother. The actor has already confirmed a sequel is underway although it’s uncertain whether Ryan Coogler, whom many credit with the movie’s success, will be back in the director’s seat.

“This is super cool”, the nine-year-old said as the crowd erupted in laughter.

“I just want to thank my parents”.

And if that wasn’t cute enough, the adorable kid then thanked mom and dad, and revealed he planned to put the award on a shelf in his room – next to his Millennium Falcon!

Hungarian Holocaust drama Son of Saul was declared the best foreign film. Before getting to the comedian, Apatow even took the time to call out hilarious Golden Globe Best Comedy victor, The Martian.

“They got snubbed, but there are lots of other great films that got snubbed as well”, said Neil Brown Jr. before the show began.

The Big Short, a film about the collapse of the American housing market, was named best comedy movie.

Best Actress in a Comedy Series: Rachel Bloom, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”.

Andre Braugher won for supporting actor for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”, while Mayim Bialik won supporting actress for “The Big Bang Theory”. He later went on to thank his fellow actors from the Room, without which he feels he wouldn’t have won it.

Fargo won Best Movie Made for Television or Limited Series and earned star Kirsten Dunst the award for Best Actress in a Movie Made for Television or Limited Series.

Best Actor in a Movie Made for Television: Idris Elba, “Luther”.

In the reality show category, “The Voice” scored its third Critics’ Choice award for best reality series.

The fan-voted Most Bingeworthy Show Award went to “Outlander”.
