The timing of the leak of the DNC emails is thought to have caused damage to the party and its nominee.
US President Barack Obama is wary of Russia’s interference in the US presidential election, suggesting Russian Federation might try to influence who gets elected on 8 November. “It’s one thing to say that they were typing stuff in Russian or they were coming from a Russian IP (internet protocol) address or their systems were configured in Russian. Not just government systems, but private systems”.
“Unfortunately Russia is being used in the electoral campaign in the US”.
“We are again seeing these maniacal attempts to exploit the Russian theme in the USA election campaign”, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters when asked about the leaked emails. However, foreign affairs experts say it’s standard operating procedure for governments to interfere in the domestic politics of their enemies and their allies.
Clinton’s campaign has accused hackers working for Russian Federation of releasing the Democratic National Committee emails to sow discord in the party and help Trump.
“I don’t think it’s coincidental that these emails were released on the eve of our convention here, and I think that’s disturbing”, Robby Mook said.
She noted that Trump once complimented Putin and said in terms of his leadership, “he’s getting an A”.
The potential benefits Trump offers to Putin have been clearly and repeatedly spelled out by the candidate himself. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was equally dismissive, calling the reports “absurd” but elaborated more.
Credit for the internecine furor that disrupted the Democratic Party on the eve of its convention should go to Vladimir Putin.
Russian state TV, which hews closely to the Kremlin’s world view, has left little doubt however that Moscow would prefer Trump.

“Nobody’s immune from cyberattacks, [and] nobody’s immune from the responses”, she said. “Insane!” he wrote. “For the record, I have ZERO investments in Russian Federation”.
