Madonna and Guy Ritchie resolve custody dispute over teen son

Rocco Ritchie will be staying in London with his father Guy, after the Sherlock Holmes director and ex-wife Madonna reached a settlement in their bitter custody dispute.

The Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels director has now remarried, tying the knot with model Jacqui Ainsley a year ago.

Guy’s attorney provided a statement to ABC from their camp saying, “Guy Ritchie is delighted to have this case behind him”.

Representatives for both Madonna and Ritchie had been due in court yesterday.

Ellen Sigal, a court-appointed lawyer for Rocco, said that the dispute was causing him stress.

In March, a NY judge and a British judge both separately urged the former spouses to find an amicable resolution for Rocco’s sake.

At that time, Rocco, now 16, left his mother’s Rebel Heart tour to live with Ritchie in London. Last month, Rocco accompanied his famous mother to Cuba to celebrate her recent 58th birthday.

The details surrounding the settlement have not been made public, so it’s unclear who Rocco will live with.

“If they can not resolve this matter then eventually the court will”.

Madonna also addressed the matter during an intimate live show in Australia, where she dedicated a performance of deep cut “Intervention” to her son.

Madonna and Ritchie filed for divorce in 2008 after eight years of marriage. She emphasized, “I think that’s one of the most serious things that has happened in this case and is detrimental to Rocco”.

As soon as the Material Girl singer’s worldwide tour concluded that month, she hopped straight on a plane to the United Kingdom to patch things up with her eldest son. They also have a 10-year-old son, David, whom they adopted from Malawi.
