Madonna of the orphans

Madonna arrived in Manila from Macau on February 22 for the Philippine leg of her “Rebel Heart Tour” that started in Montreal last September.

Pictures on her Instagram account showed her carrying a baby in one arm while holding hands with a girl guiding her on a tour of the Hospicio de San Jose orphanage.

The Philippines has more Catholics than any other Asian nation.

Ahead of Madonna’s two-night concert in Manila, an archbishop warned the Filipinos against watching her concert.

“Hats off to the Bahay Tulyan Foundation in Manilla for taking so many kids off the street and providing food and shelter!”

Wearing head-to-toe black and oversized shades, Madonna came with an entourage of 20 dancers and burly bodyguards, Bahay Tuluyan executive director Lily Flordelis told AFP.

Lipa Archbishop Ramon Arguelles even discouraged the faithful from watching the concert not wanting the Philippines to be a venue for blasphemy.

There were long lines of fans when the gates of SM MOA Arena opened as early as 5:30 pm for the first night Madonna’s “Rebel Heart Tour”.

The mother-of-two, whose name is often used to refer to the Virgin Mary, also shared images of herself sitting with a group of children, as well as an adorable snap where she is lying down with youngsters all around her.
