Magic, Golic place bet on Michigan State-Notre Dame game

The Spartans have won 10 of the last 17 meetings between the teams and 10 of the last 14 games have been decided by a touchdown or less, including this beauty in 2010. Last week against Nevada, that same group lost perhaps its top playmaker – sophomore cornerback Shaun Crawford – for the season with a torn Achilles. It will be seen whether or not MSU could keep their in-game conditioning intact or if their bruises in week one have healed, but one thing is for certain – they will have to come out with the same intensity of the 1966 team when they step onto the field. Michigan State spent last season rotating between three feature backs: LJ Scott, Madre London and Gerald Holmes.

“You’re getting an aggressive defensive front seven”, Kelly explained.

But they’ve given fans some seriously entertaining football. “I think that’s the most important thing”. “Very good plan, very methodical, and it’s a winning plan”.

Michigan State and Notre Dame are set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC.

“They’re not going to hide anything from us”, offensive lineman Mike McGlinchey said. So I’m of the opinion that they’ve already played that game. I think we had a late hit maybe and a couple holding penalties. “We’ll see what happens”.

Dantonio expects the Spartans to learn a lot this week, something Michigan State shares with Nebraska as it prepares for an OR team that matches the Cornhuskers’ 2-0 start.

One of those four wins was against Dantonio’s 15th ranked Spartans in 2011 when the Irish limped into Notre Dame Stadium with a 0-2 record following losses to South Florida and MI. Kelly went 34-6 at Cincinnati after replacing Dantonio there for the 2007 season.

Notre Dame’s start to the 2016 season didn’t quite go as planned.

The Irish struggled to find their rhythm from the opening serve on Friday evening, as Michigan State jumped out to an early lead to take control of the match. Furman was in that game into the fourth quarter, but the Spartans were able to pick up the win. But Michigan State veterans understand the importance of this game, and have tried to pass that along to younger players this week.

If Michigan State-Notre Dame is to be classified as a rivalry, players and coaches on both sides helped out and spent the week treating it as such. Josiah Price complimented for 21 yards and a touchdown.

To that point, it’s a Michigan State team making a transtition at QB. Their collective rosters included 25 All-Americans, 10 National Football League first-round draft picks and 31 future pros. CB Vayante Copeland has been hyped up by coaches, but he only played in 1.5 games a year ago before a neck injury ended his freshman season. “Look, if you’ve got a really good quarterback you’ve got a chance, and he’s a really good quarterback”, Kelly told reporters of Kizer. Brown, C.J. Sanders, Kevin Stepherson and Corey Holmes. According to OddsShark, Notre Dame is favored by 7.5 points. And as long as Kizer is quarterbacking the Irish, this team will be competitive.

After senior captain and quarterback Tyler O’Connor said this week has been the “toughest bye week that we’ve had since we’ve been here over the past two years”, O’Connor talked about how the team was preparing for the game.
