Magic lights up Warner Bros’ Comic-Con panel, superheroes reign

Marvel announced major casting news in the form of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, who will first appear in Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, and then get a solo movie in March 2019.
Fans were treated to new footage of Scott Derrickson’s “Doctor Strange“, opening on November 4, in which Benedict Cumberbatch plays brain-surgeon-turned-sorcerer Stephen Vincent Strange.
Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic vehicle accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions.
The new, almost two-and-a-half-minute clip prominently features Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, Strange’s mentor, who helps transform the brilliant surgeon into the “Sorcerer Supreme”. With the help of the Ancient One he enters a world of magic an alternate dimensions.
“Suicide Squad” – The latest trailer for the DC Comics flick shows off some new footage and teases the rockin’ soundtrack.
The announcement came at the end of Marvel’s Comic-Con International presentation, which was held off the back of the buzz from the Wonder Woman panel – with Warner Bros. beating Marvel to the punch with a female-fronted superhero film two years ahead of Captain Marvel.
Kurt Russell drove the crowd wild when he made a surprise appearance to confirm he would play Chris Pratt’s father in James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2”, which hits theaters on May 5 next year.
Comic-Con was treated to a first look at Spider-Man: Homecoming which sees British actor Tom Holland as Peter Parker. The crowd went wild for an extended look at a scene with the adorable Baby Groot a CG tree character, who in the last film was full-sized and voiced by Vin Diesel staging an escape from captivity with Yondu (Michael Rooker) and Rocket Racoon (Bradley Cooper).
