Magic to acquire guard Shabazz Napier
According to a report from Yahoo Sports, the Miami Heat will trade second-year point guard Shabazz Napier to the Orlando Magic for a protected future second-round pick. Trading him gets the Heat down to 16 players on the roster.

Too many guards on the roster meant a deal had to be made.
As a player taken late in the first round of the 2014 National Basteball Association Draft, Napier is set to earn roughly $1.3 million next season – much less than the $4.3 million that veteran Mario Chalmers will make. Watson this offseason to serve in the backup role, but given his struggles with injuries for the past two seasons, it was probably a good move for Orlando to add some insurance to the position. In 51 games, he averaged 5.1 points and 2.5 assists, shooting 38.2% from the floor in 19.8 minutes per game.
As was the case with the Heat, Napier likely slots in as the Magic’s third-string point guard, behind 2014 first-round pick Elfrid Payton and recently acquired free-agent point guard C.J.
