Magnitude-4.4 Earthquake Shakes Southern California
Social media was deluged with individual reports of what the quake felt like, with some saying they first thought a vehicle slammed into their home.

A 4.4-magnitude quake shook southern California on Tuesday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
It quake hit at 11:39 pm about 20 kms northeast of Victoria.
As of this writing there are still no injuries reported in the minor quake that hit the Vancouver area late Tuesday evening and there’s been no reports of major damage to buildings or property. She said the shaking appears to have been strongest, lasting up to 10 seconds in some cases, in the island’s south end.
“Even one like last night that was felt by so many people is really a tiny, tiny quake compared to the really big ones that have happened in this region in the past”, he said.
The series of earthquakes occurred along the San Jacinto Fault Zone. Skinner said the agency’s oil and gas division is asking the commission to order the company to comply in an application that will be presented early next month.
Cassidy said scientists would be more certain of the estimated magnitude, once they analyze the quake’s wave forms and data.
Translink tweeted that the Expo and Millennium SkyTrain were shutting down for the time being until safety could be confirmed.
Natural Resources Canada measured the magnitude at 4.3 on the Richter scale while the U.S. Geological Survey measured the magnitude at 4.8.
Cousino said she didn’t see any damage at Tony’s Diner near the Cajon Pass, but the temblor did shake up some employees and customers.
