Magnussen cleared to race in Italian GP after crash in Spa

Hamilton will head into this week’s Italian Grand Prix still in charge of the title race after making a sensational comeback from 55-place grid penalty to finish third at the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday.

The gap between the Mercedes team-mates is down to single figures, just nine points, but there are 200 still to play for.

Ferrari have not won in Monza since Fernando Alonso in 2010, although Sebastian Vettel is a three-time Italian GP victor, with Red Bull and Toro Rosso, and was second previous year in his first season with the Italian team. “The FIA will of course have the final word but I really want to and I’m confident that by then it will be fine”.

The future of the race had looked uncertain, with financial troubles hurting the circuit and Imola vying to take the race as it sought to return to the calendar.

“I m enjoying this battle and we ve got several cars in the mix”, said Rosberg.

“I’m really enjoying the battle out there right now. A year ago obviously didn’t end so well for me there, so I’m hoping for a bit more luck and a little less fire this time”. “It gives the whole team certainty and you can focus on the auto and performance”.

Rosberg was untroubled in Spa on the way to his sixth win of the season to end Hamilton’s four straight victories. “I can’t wait to make our Silver Arrow fly at Monza”. It does have some high speed corners that are a challenge too, so it’s just really cool.

“It’s game on for me now with the penalties out of the way and fresh engines ready to use”. If I can repeat that it would be wonderful but we’ll see how we look when we get there.
