Known writer and Rajya Sabha MP Javed Akhtar has hit out on Hyderabad MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen party (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi in Parliament.
The incident took place when another AIMIM member of the Maharashtra Assembly questioned spending public money on memorials. Akhar said after which he proceeded to chant Bharat mata ki jai several times.
Senior Shiv Sena leader and minister Ramdas Kadam said Owaisi should go to Pakistan if he doesn’t want to say “Bharat Mata ki Jai”. He also condemned the right-wing extremist who says Muslims should go to Pakistan.
During the assembly session today he had refused to say “Bharat mata ki jai”.
Waris Pathan’s reaction came as a response to Javed Akhtar’s dig at AIMIM leader and MP Asaddudin Owaisi for saying he will not chant “Bharat mata ki jai” because the Constitution does not ask him to do so. He also said that these days “fringe” footing are rising and focused that we need to protect secularism to save the democracy and the Constitution.
“The only definition of NATIONALISM for Bharatwasis should be “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.
“He (Owaisi) said he will not say “Bharat mata ki jai” as the Constitution does not require him to say so”. “What are you going to do, Bhagwat sahab”. The RSS Chief had before said the new generation should be taught to chant slogans hailing mother India.
