Mahela Jayawardene set to join England team as batting consultant
Confirming the talks, an European Central Bank spokesman stated: “We have had some preliminary conversations with Mahela Jayawardene round a attainable short-term consultancy role firstly of the UAE tour – given his familiarity with circumstances”.

Mahela Jayawardene is to join the England side as batting consultant.
Jayawardene will be part of England coaching team in the the Test, One Day global and Twenty20 series against Pakistan at United State Emirates. Before Jayawardene, England had the Pakistani leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed as their spin consultant. Over the next 18 months or so, England will not only play Pakistan in the UAE, but tour India and Bangladesh, as well as hosting Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The 2016 World T20 can also be in India.
England coach Trevor Bayliss and assistant coach Paul Farbrace, during their stint with the Sri Lankan team, formed a strong relationship with the stylish right-handed batsman, whose 18-year-old global career came to an end after the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

Mark Ramprakash is England’s batting coach and Jayawardene’s appointment is understood to be to a part-time consulstancy role only.
