Back in the Premier League, Claudio Ranieri and his men aim to make amends for a slow start to their campaign after just one victory under their belt.

“It was some feeling, something I never thought I’d achieve”, said Albrighton, who has won a Premier League medal, played against Barcelona and now scored in the Champions League since being released by Aston Villa two years ago.

“For us everything is new”, Ranieri said at his pre-match news conference on Friday. Shinji Okazaki didn’t dress for Leicester’s midweek Champions League clash despite being fit, so there’s a good chance the Japanese worldwide starts fresh in Claudio Ranieri’s starting XI against Burnley.

While Ranieri insisted it was not an easy evening, Club Brugge were certainly accommodating for Leicester, making it an unforgettable trip for their supporters, who had spent the afternoon enjoying the scorching sunshine and the pleasant ambience in the picturesque Belgian city.

They face Burnley next at the King Power Stadium on Saturday. He took responsibility. I tried to say Slimani because he scores penalties but he had the personality to want to choose.

It was Brugge’s first game in the Champions League group stage for a decade and they went close when Abdoulay Diaby hit the post in the second half, but they were already 3-0 down.

Both Madrid’s goals came in the final two minutes after Bruno Cesar had given the visitors the lead.

Porto and Copenhagen’s 1-1 draw also means the Foxes top Group G after the opening round of fixtures but Ranieri dismissed suggestions Leicester found their debut in the competition comfortable. “If he hadn’t scored I’d take his neck and crush his neck!”

Like we saw last year and the year before with Leicester, it’s wonderful what one win can do for this team’s confidence.

“Maybe the music woke up him!” the Leicester manager said. To go anywhere away from home in Europe, let alone in your first match, and put in a performance like that is impressive. “Maybe he’s very exhausted of listening to the “dilly-ding dilly-dong” and he prefers to listen to the Champions League music”.

Club Brugge’s miserable night was summed up when the woodwork denied Izquierdo from grabbing a consolation goal, meaning Leicester were also able to celebrate a clean sheet on a famous night in their history.
