Homes have been evacuated and a school closed after a huge fire broke out at a fireworks factory in Southampton this morning.
Firefighters were called after a fire broke out at Southern Fireworks Factory in Southampton, which created a spectacular, yet extremely unsafe display.
Video footage from Graham Stokell.
Local resident, Chris Nichols, posted on Vine: “Woken up by big bang”.
The road was closed and drivers were urged to avoid the Area.
Lenny posted: “Woke up to fireworks this morning and thinking who the hell sets them off at 6 in the morning”.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service group commander Howard Watts said: “It was a challenging scene when we arrived – with all the explosions we couldn’t get too close to the fire”, according to the BBC.
No-one was injured, they said.
“Fireworks were shooting out in all directions into the air. We hope that everyone in the community is safe and well”.
