Major League Baseball trade rumors: Mets to acquire Carlos Gomez from Brewers

“A grade has not and will not transpire”, Alderson said.

The Brewers have some interesting trade pieces that could be available at the deadline including outfielder Carlos Gomez and closer Francisco Rodriguez.

And while many on social media wondered why Flores wasn’t taken out of the game, it turns out there was a very good reason. Scott Boras, the agent for Gomez, has stated that his client is “injury-free” and that he has “no problem whatsoever” with his hip.

Speculation gave way to rumors that Wheeler may have failed his physical. The 25-year-old right-hander has missed the entire season due to Tommy John surgery, but on Monday played catch for the first time since going under the knife back in March and could be ready by June or July of 2016.

Flores is a 23-year old infielder who can play second, shortstop and third base. While many general managers are careful to discuss deals until they have been finalized, Alderson seemed to close the door on the idea of bringing Carlos Gomez to the Mets. News circulating about the trade led Mets fans to celebrate that they were re-acquiring a player they had traded years ago. Says he didn’t know anything about it. “As you guys know, there’s not a finer kid in that clubhouse than him”. Flores was believed to be weeping after getting news of a deal, and some questioned why he was left in the game, but Mets manager Terry Collins said there was no knowledge on the field about any deal.

“We could’ve pulled him and contributed to the speculation”, Alderson said.

Well, that’s at least settled.
