Students at several Hartford area high schools – Newington, Wethersfield, Farmington and Simsbury, among others – plan to walk out of class Friday as well. The four include Bria Berish, Megan Brill, Molly Jacobson and Maya Raviv.

In Morgan Hill, students at Ann Sobrato High School are planning to march 3 miles to city hall.
Jasmyne Ward (junior) said she does not support recent suggestions by lawmakers to arm teachers.
Not only did the networks dedicate a full 10 minutes to the National School Walkout on gun control, but did so glowingly.
Although no threat was made to the school, the KHSD Police Department was made aware and approached the student, then escorted the student to the vehicle where they found the firearm.

After each one, the same cycle takes place: the media spend less than a week on the story, politicians offer their “thoughts and prayers”, and nothing ever changes. “No one should experience gun violence and the associated grief the way we do in our country today”.
The school’s HOPE Club is organizing the event as an alternative to another national school walkout that coincides with the nineteenth anniversary of the Columbine school shooting in Colorado.
Amdahl said the Giants Walkout plans to address this shooting as another example of tragedy that could have and still can be avoided. An event of this magnitude, where so many schools, hopefully, participate is hard to ignore.
Brent Campbell, spokesman for WS/FCS, said the district will operate as if it is a normal school day, including with policies meant to prevent disruption to the school day and ensure a safe environment.
Employees will not be active participants in any walkout.
The governor and other legislators will be at the protest.
Students will not be penalized whether or not they choose to participate. Students are calling for stricter gun laws, and thousands signed up that day as first-time voters. It goes on to say, “If any activity is not conducted in accordance with this policy, students participating shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action”.
What if students walk out of class without permission but decide to remain on campus?

“I do expect students walking out on Friday to face some type of consequence-after all, we are essentially cutting class-but I can’t definitively say that there will be”, said Kass.
