A manager with the Make-a-Wish Foundation said Amelia Meyer could have wished for anything, but the eight-year-old said she wanted to clean up four parks. But she wants to help out her community by making it look better.

Fortunately, Make-A-Wish didn’t just hand Amelia a trash bag and wish her well on her endeavors. But her mother, Jill, said it had been a great day. Everyone pitched in to help Amelia clean the park and other spots around Kansas City and the mayor even proclaimed Saturday “Amelia Meyer Take Care of Your World Day”.
Though Amelia’s wish is unconventional, it seemed to bring her no less joy than another child’s trip to Disneyland might. Sporting Kansas City and park rangers participated in the event held in Swope Park on February 27.
“My level of gratitude is unbelievable”, Jill Meyer, Amelia’s mom, said according to KSHB.
With the help of the community and officials with the Kansas City Missouri Parks and Recreation Department, Amelia arrived at Swope Park greeted by hundreds of volunteers.

Young Amelia, who goes by the nickname “Meals”, told ABC News she picked this wish because “I just like going on walks with my grandma and I find trash everywhere”. As word of her wish spread on social media, other people organized cleanups in their own areas, tagging photographs of their efforts with #AmeliasWish.
