The subject of Netflx true crime series, Making a Murderer has reportedly gotten engaged to legal secretary, Lynn Hartman.
His attorney Kathleen Zellner confirmed the news to People: “Steven deserves every bit of happiness that comes his way”.
Considering he’s locked away in jail for life over the murder of Teresa Halbach, 2016 has been a pretty good year for Steven Avery. Their relationship began with letters and phone calls, but the happy couple finally met face-to-face for the first time just last week when she visited him at Waupun Correctional Institute in Waupun, Wisconsin, according to the Daily Mail. He and Lori Mathiesen, who divorced in 1988, had four children, People noted. “It has been a hard road getting to this point in our lives but we are very happy”, she wrote. “I just want to be happy and enjoy my life, I think I did enough time”. “Additionally, this should provide the State with time to determine which items are covered by the April 4, 2007, Preservation of Blood Evidence and Independent Defense Testing Order entered by Judge Patrick L. Willis at the conclusion of Defendant’s trial”, the letter stated.
Meanwhile, Avery’s nephew Brendan Dassey is asking to be released from prison while the state appeals a judge’s ruling overturning his homicide conviction in the death of Halbach.
