Among those celebrating exam success is girls’ education campaigner, Malala Yousafzai who gained a string of As and A*s in her GCSEs.
“My wife Toor Pekai and I are proud of Malala getting 6A*s and 4As”.
Malala scored A*s in maths, biology, chemistry, physics, and religious studies, while getting As for history, geography, and English.
In 2014, Malala became the youngest victor of the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of her continued fight for the right of all children to education.
The GCSE exams are internationally recognized tests taken by secondary school students in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland over two years.
Malala, who was 15 at the time, was shot at three times.
Malala was shot by the Taliban after writing a diary about life under their rule in North-West Pakistan.

She gave her first public speech in September 2008, entitled “How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to an education?”. “Nothing that Malala Yousafzai achieves seems startling any more but she continues to make Pakistan proud”, said the Express Tribune, an English-language Pakistani newspaper.
