His admission to a private hospital two days back was kept a secret and it was only on Sunday that even the special branch came to know that he was unwell. Later Mani acted as the villain in Vikram’s super hit film “Gemini” and got his break in Tamil film industry with that film, though he has acted in a few Tamil films before.

Born in Chalakudy near Thrissur, Mr. Mani began his artistic career as a mimicry artiste before leaping in to the Malayalam film industry as a comedian in various films.

The Malayalam film industry expressed shock over the actor’s untimely demise.

He is survived by his wife Nimmy and daughter Sree Lakshmy. The role of visually-challenged singer Ramu in Vinayan’s “Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njanum” won him accolades at state and national levels. “It is an irreparable lose for us”, noted film director Kamal said.
