The city will be celebrating Veterans Day with several events Wednesday.

The top three winners of the Dr. Charles Koehler Writing Contest will also be in attendance to present their submission of what Veterans Day means to them.

WASHINGTON | American Legion National Commander Dale Barnett said the recent Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) recommending the closure of a popular and historic veterans hospital in Hot Springs, “sends exactly the wrong message” to veterans needing essential health-care services but often opting to forgo treatment.

AFTER the ceremony, American Legion Post 772 will host a free luncheon that will be open to all attendees. We have a ton of food. Barnett is encouraging American Legion Family members and other interested parties to submit their comments online or through regular mail.

Please join these members of the VFW and the American Legion as we pay tribute to the men and women who are and were our American soldiers.

The parade will start at the Legion at 10 a.m. It will be led by Grand Marshal Jeremiah Kelleher, a Korean War Veteran.
