Armed men held 170 guests and staff in a siege that lasted about nine hours last Friday before Malian and worldwide forces stormed the hotel.

The Mali police detained the two suspects that they accused of contributing to organize the attack.

The statement identified the two men, both arrested in Bamako, as Seidou Diepkile and Adama Maiga.

There are, however, assumptions that the suspects have been traced based on the information found in one of the individuals’ mobile phones. This attack could also indicate a battle for prominent public position between Ansar Dine and the Islamic State, to capture attention and popularity as competition for notoriety and the recruits that come with it heats up between Islamic terror franchise.

After a March 2012 military coup plunged the country into chaos, Islamist extremists with links to al Qaeda carved out a large portion of northern Mali for themselves.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Nigeria, Libya are all examples of countries attacked by terror organizations due to their relationships with western countries.

Reuters said that the US Embassy in Bamako has already warned of the possibility of “further terrorist activity in the capital” and citizens have been advised to avoid public places like bars, restaurants, and shopping centers.
