Two suspects having alleged links to an attack on a hotel in the capital of Mali were arrested on Thursday by the authorities, the security ministry said.
The two attackers have not yet been identified.
The Mali police detained the two suspects that they accused of contributing to organize the attack.
Malian troops, backed by French and American special forces, swarmed in to retake the building and free terrified guests and hotel staff during a siege that lasted more than seven hours.
The two are Seidou Diepkile and Adama Maiga who were caught in Bamako suburb districts last Friday, the statement said, but didn’t give further details. It was reported that the suspects were brought in for interrogation after a lead was discovered in one of the attacker’s mobile phones. The attack was also claimed, however, by the Macina Liberation Front, a group active in central Mali, in cooperation with Ansar Dine militants.
“It’s only after questioning that we will find out if the second suspect sells phone credit or is an accomplice”, said the source, requesting anonymity. Security analysts say they could be collaborating.
