“I think Malia…is very eager to get out of [the White House]”, he added about her upcoming milestone and his exit from the Oval early next year. In January, Obama said he declined an invitation to speak at the graduation because he knew he would be too emotional.

Obama has expressed sadness at his daughter growing up.

“The idea of her having to transfer schools, move to a new city halfway through high school, would not make me popular”, Obama said on “The Tonight Show”.

As a high school student, Malia spent a portion of the summer in 2014 and 2015 working in television studios in NY and Los Angeles.

In 2014 Malia and Sasha were named two of “The 25 Most Influential Teens of 2014” by Time magazine.

A photo of the Class of 2016 posted to Sidwell’s Facebook page shows Malia standing proudly in the third row, center, wearing a white dress and surrounded by classmates.
