Malmo Preview: Deila out to prove Hareide wrong

“It’s just unbelievable to have Champions League games at Celtic Park”.

Allan said: “I’ve played with a few of them at Dundee United and their games have developed by coming here. When Celtic came in, I weighed up those factors and it was easy for me”.

He had blasted his players though for their lack of discipline in their midweek 2-2 draw with Kilmarnock. We want Champions League.

“I just made it on football terms, I wasn’t really bothered about what came with it. I know I will get a lot of stick off some people but for me it’s about playing football, developing, and this is the right place for me”.

Celtic have found their Champions League qualifying campaign tough in recent weeks, but they will be eager to gain a first-leg advantage against Malmo.

I don’t feel any pressure on my own shoulders.

“In the second round we normally play lower seeded teams and they are hard to break down at home so we have to do the job away but it is the opposite when we meet stronger teams like last year against Sparta Prague and now Celtic”.

The former Stromsgodset boss said: “Malmo have done well in the last two, three years”.

“I have a lot of respect for Alan Stubbs”.

“If we do that and don’t succeed, then we are not good enough and you have to go on”. Malmo will be looking to get some sort of result to bring back to Sweden but they will have the knowledge that they lost the first leg 2-0 to Salzburg before overcoming the Austrians 3-0 at home so even a loss is not the end of the world for the Swedes.

“It wasn’t much of a concern, I was just uncertain what I was going to come out and face”.

Celtic are unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership this season after four games, with 10 points taken from a possible 12. But we know also that we are Celtic and that we are a big club in Europe.

Good relationship Berget flopped during his time at Parkhead but Deila expects him, understandably, to want to prove a point when he returns.

Griffiths has started the season strongly with four goals to his name already.

Celtic will be keen to keep an eye on strikers Markus Rosenberg and Jo Inge Berget, who have seven goals each so far this season. Celtic have had an up and down start to the season but have looked impressive at times with Ronnie Delia’s side having found some talent in midfielder Biton and center halves Boyata and wing back Janko. “It’s not like going into the unknown and they have all been brilliant with me”. “But hopefully he will have a bad night tomorrow”.

Celtic bolstered their squad going into the weekend with the signing of midfielder Scott Allan from Hibernian – a player who had been expected to join fierce Glasgow rivals Rangers. He is among the 20 so we will see.
