Mamata government looted people through Saradha scam: Rahul Gandhi

Lashing out against the Opposition, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday said that they engineered the Narada sting operation because they did not have any other issue to counter her party in the run-up to the Assembly election.

Addressing successive poll rallies in the state, Modi described the Banerjee regime as a “dark night” and slammed it for political violence in the state.

“In 2011, when Didi came to power, everybody hoped she will bring a new dawn, driving away the 34 years of darkness under the Left Front.

Kolkata: Alleging that West Bengal Chief Secretary Basudeb Banerjee was biased towards the ruling Trinamool Congress, CPI-M leader Rabin Deb today demanded the top bureaucrat’s removal from the post.

“Vote for Congress-CPI (M), vote for the Congress-Left alliance and defeat Mamata government to usher in development”, Rahul said. “The performance of our government will be a matter of research in the world one day”, she said adding Bengal is number one in many fields including small scale industry sector, skill development and 100 days work.

When elections began in the state, the role of the state chief electoral officer, Sunil Kumar Gupta, also came under the scanner.

Comparing Banerjee with Modi, he said both had the habit of making false promises. But Mamata, who came to power calling for change, has herself changed.

Referring to the recent flyover collapse in Calcutta, which claimed several lives, Rahul alleged that the Trinamul government had given supply contracts to party members, who then supplied substandard material.

He said no action was taken against those involved in Saradha and Narada scam.

'Why is Mamata targeting poll panel instead of BJP?'
