MAN 256 Gameplay Video

The familiar maze we all know and love from Pac-Man has been tilted into an isometric perspective, and it has been made to stretch endlessly.

Pac-Man 256 celebrates the series’ 35th anniversary by turning the infamously glitched 256th level of the original Pac-Man game into a central mechanic.

Pac-Man 256 is described as “endless maze chase” based on the infamous “256 Glitch”.

However, as this is an endless maze, there are many more than four ghosts, but the pill munching aspect of the game remains the same as you evade and outsmart each ghost. There are fruits to collect for which you get points, and there are credits you can pick up to buy extra lives. There are also coins, which can be used to level up power-ups.

VentureBeat explains that “you start with six credits, and you can spend one credit to play the game with power-ups enabled (like a laser or a freeze ray)”.

Fresh out the Google Play Store, Bandai Namco and Hipster Whale – the folks that brought your Crossy Road – have finally released their latest creation to the Google Play Store: PAC-MAN 256. Our favorite part about the game is that it can be played in both landscape and portrait mode, with an option to lower the frame rate for added battery savings.

Credits can be purchased with cash or earned by watching videos. The game also offers Bluetooth controller support, and is playable on Nvidia’s Shield devices.

Pac-Man 256 is designed for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and requires iOS 7.1 or later.

The same ghosts from the original Pac-Man fame are back, but this time they’ve brought friends Sue, Funky, and Spunky.
