“I’m numb. I can’t think”, Runions told The Kansas City Star Sunday afternoon.
Jessica’s grandmother, Linda Runions, stated that “we’re all praying every single minute’ and desperately wants to “hear that she’s okay”.
“I’m unsure what he will do next, because the abuse has gotten worse over time”, the application read. She also told police that Yust killed three of her cats on the night of her attack.
Kopetsky left behind her debit card, her checking account has not been touched and her mother, Rhonda Beckford, has rejected theories that the girl ran away, once saying “she had no reason not to come home”.
Kylr Yust has a criminal history and an ex-girlfriend who was never found.
A woman who identified herself as an aunt of Runions, 21, said her nephew had found a bag containing women’s clothing and other items near 95th Street and Blue River Road.
She said she eventually lost consciousness as Yust choked her, but later regained it and found him embracing her from behind and telling her, “I love you”, the report said.
Her mother reported her missing Friday evening.
Runions’s mother Jamie told the Kansas City Star she’s been “numb” since last week, but that “right now I have positive news that my daughter wasn’t in the vehicle when they found it”. In Belton, police say Yust is a person of interest in the 2007 disappearance of teenager Kara Kopetsky, who vanished days after seeking a protection order against him. Mike Mansur, a spokesman for Jackson County’s prosecutor, declined to release any details, saying in an email that “the case is now under seal”. She has been missing since then.
