The concert was met with a lot of resistance from Chicago mayor, Rahm Emmanuel who considers Keef to be “an unacceptable role model”. Or at least that’s what he says on Twitter. Keef and FilmOn TV, the company he recently signed to, and Hologram USA attempted to put on a secret show at Craze Fest in Hammond, Indiana, just outside of Chicago, this past Saturday night (July 25).

Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott told the New York Times that he knows “nothing about Chief Keef” but said the concert was shut down because Keef has “been basically outlawed in Chicago, and we’re not going to let you circumvent Mayor Emanuel by going next door”. Another concert in Hammond was shut down on Sunday. He’d already gained a degree of notoriety-videos he had posted on YouTube received enough attention that Kanye West produced a remix of Keef’s song “I Don’t Like“, with rappers Pusha T, Big Sean, and Jadakiss guesting. Chief Keef aka Keith Cozart is one of the foremost rappers in Chicago’s thriving drill scene. “Yall gonna love me in the Office”, the 19-year-old tweeted. “I’m going to make everything right”, he said. Keef finally spoke to Billboard on the subject, and naturally, he had some choice words for Mayor Emanuel.
Keef and star-producer Detail have recruited an “all-star hip hop line up” for the September concert, according to a release. “Municipal leaders are dictating what young people can listen to”. TV, after Interscope Records dropped the rapper in October 2014 – attempted to stage a benefit concert in Chicago for the families of both Capo and 13-month-old Dillan Harris, who was killed by an automobile as Capo’s alleged shooters fled police. “It’s absurd. There is zero justification”.

A spokesman for Madison Square Garden, which represents the Chicago Theatre, said there was no such show scheduled and that “we are not involved in this in any way”.
