A 19-year-old man is under guard in hospital after a woman in her 60s was killed and five people were injured in a London knife attack.
However Scotland Yard said early indications suggested “mental health is a significant factor in this case”.
Israeli victim Yovel Levkowski, 18, was slashed in the arm and hand during the attack, reports the Daily Mirror. Dr. Tom Frieden says aerial spraying that began Thursday quickly killed adult mosquitoes that pesticides on the ground couldn’t reach.
“Whilst the investigation is not yet complete – all of the work that we have done so far increasingly points to this tragic incident as having been triggered by mental health issues”. The victims were named in court Saturday for the first time.
Police said Bulhan is a Norwegian national of Somali origin, and “so far we have found no evidence of radicalization”, Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said Thursday.
A British man who was stabbed in the stomach suffered serious injuries, police said.
Darlene Horton was visiting the capital with husband Richard Wagner, who was teaching summer classes, when she was attacked in Russell Square. In a text statement, Shannon said, in part, “I will never forget her heart of service, her love of traveling and her smile that warmed the hearts of all who knew her”.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan urged Londoners to remain “calm and vigilant” in the wake of the attack.
“I send strength to the family and ask that you take advantage of every moment – nothing is to be taken for granted”.
Among the five who were injured, three were discharged from the hospital while two were confined for additional treatment.
“They said that when he stabbed the people he didn’t shout or scream anything”, he told the paper.
The American woman, believed to be in her 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

“The attacker was apparently stabbing and waving his knife at random – making a lunge in towards people’s legs”.
