Man Arrested After Shooting Officer in the Face in Maryland

According to reports, the suspect who was accused of shooting and wounding a police officer in northeast Maryland early Friday has been taken into custody after a manhunt.

The officer, a 10-year veteran, responded to a call for suspicious activity and heard a “pop”, police said. Aberdeen Police Department Sgt. C. William Reiber says the officer will require surgery to his eye.

Scott Patrick Lawrence, 26, of the 3800 block of Washington Avenue in Abingdon, will be charged with attempted murder and other offenses connected to the shooting of an Aberdeen policeman, officials reported. The arrest occurred without incidence and he was conveyed to the custody of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office of the Aberdeen Police Department. Reiber said Aberdeen police had enlisted the help of outside agencies to find Testerman.

Then he was transported by air to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

Police say a.410-caliber shotgun believed to be used in the shooting was recovered.
