Police have charged Thomas Hogan, 40, of 44 Montague St., Worcester, with misleading the investigation.
Hogan will be arraigned Friday at the Worcester County District Court House. Assistant District Attorney Terry McLaughlin told the judge that Hogan is a suspect in the killing.
The investigation began around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when firefighters were called to a wooded area on Swan Avenue, where a vehicle was on fire.
The Worcester resident has a history of mental illness and petty crimes. A department spokesperson did not immediately respond to requests for further comment.
Prosecutors say he is a suspect in the woman’s death. He was ordered held on $3,000 cash bail.
