Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand told the Nola.com that an argument “over food items” had quickly escalated and Pritchett’s scared parents had taken shelter in a locked bedroom.
As for the victims, Renta Pritchett was treated for multiple stab wounds to the head.
Police arrested him with the use of a K9.
Fortunato said other relatives told investigators that Pritchett became enraged about the food, grabbed a knife and went upstairs to confront his parents.
Ronald Pritchett has waived extradition, but he was not yet booked into the Jefferson Parish jail as of 8:30 a.m.
Fortunato says 58-year-old Percival Pritchett and his wife, 57-year-old Renitta Pritchett, were stabbed Wednesday at their home in unincorporated Gretna.
His mother, whom police found near the staircase on the first floor, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The condition of Renta Pritchett is not known. Normand said he kicked open their bedroom door and began stabbing both his mother and father.
