A 35-year-old Florida man was being held on Tuesday after being accused of vandalizing a mosque and desecrating it with a bacon, whose consumption is forbidden by the Muslim religion, police said.
A Florida man has been arrested for a hateful and freaky attack on a mosque.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Muslim community have condemned Wolfe’s actions, insisting that they’re an obvious act of Islamophobia, given the fact that pork is prohibited from being consumed or even touched, according to the Holy Quran.
“People are afraid to take their children back to the mosque – a machete was used”, Rasha Mubarak, the Orlando coordinator for the Council on American-Islamic Relations told USA Today. “So I am hopeful”.
Some local leaders are calling for more serious hate crime charges. Musri, who over the years has had a number of outreach programs and conducted interfaith efforts, was in touch with the FBI, which investigates bias-related crimes.
Another such case was reported in Las Vegas, on Sunday, December 27, at the Masjid-e-Tawheed mosque.

“The use of pork in an incident of this type is one clear indicator of a possible bias motive for the vandalism”, CAIR Florida Regional Operations Director Nezar Hamze said in a statement. According to jail records, Wolfe lives in Cocoa Beach, a city about 30 miles south of the small Titusville mosque.
