Officers have charged Fort Campbell soldier Zackery Alexander with criminal homicide in the death of Joseph Bankston on October. 4.

Police released a sketch earlier Wednesday of the suspected gunman along with an offer of a $15,000 reward from the state of Tennessee for information leading to an arrest.

Gov. Bill Haslam announced the reward money this week and says he hopes it will “bring whoever did this to justice”.

The child’s father, Brandon Jimenez, was also shot multiple times and was in critical condition at a Nashville hospital Wednesday morning. Jimenez is a medic with the 86th Combat Support Hospital at Fort Campbell, but authorities have not said whether the two know each other.

Police said this investigation is ongoing.

Alexander was booked shortly after 11 p.m. Connecticut into the Montgomery County jail.
