Gardaí declined to say if the man was an Irish national.

THIS was the scene this morning when gardaí carried out a number of searches as part of their investigation into organised crime in Dublin.

Hutch had fallen foul of the Kinahan outfit and their operations in Spain.

The MGM gym in Marbella, which is linked to the Kinahans and promoted the boxing weigh in at the Regency Hotel in Dublin last February, was also searched this morning.

“They carried out a number of searches in Spain, and one person has been arrested in relation to the homicide of Gary Hutch in Spain in 2015”, he added.

Gardai have posted pictures on their Facebook page in connection with the operation, showing a luxury yacht being searched while a man is detained at a marina, as well as a black Bentley auto.

The searches are focused in areas of Tallaght, Clondalkin and Crumlin.

60 officers were involved in 6 raids at houses in Dublin 8, South County Dublin.

Spanish police joined gardaí in Dublin while detectives from the Drugs and Organised Crime Unit joined police in Spain.

An Irish and Spanish crack team seized €23,000 in cash, bogus ID papers and several foreign bank documents in a series of early morning raids.

A spokesman for the Civil Guard said: “He was arrested in Madrid but we don’t have a specific location”.

“Today was about gathering evidence and disrupting and dismantling these organised crime groups”.

“I can assure the press that this operation took a lot of planning and it was done in the utmost secrecy and it has resulted in a significant arrest”.

“It was about gathering evidence so we can go to the director of public prosecutions to seek a charge of possibly directing organised crime, but certainly facilitating organised crime in these jurisdictions”.

A garda officer who had flown in from Ireland to witness the operation was clearly visible in the footage as Spanish officers examined the weapon.
