“The victim explained to the suspect, repeatedly, that he did not have any cash”, police said in a statement. The suspect attacking the woman shot him in the stomach, then leveled his gun at Gold’s head and pulled the trigger.

New Orleans police say every resource possible is being used to locate Cain, the suspect in Friday morning’s chilling attempted murder of a Tulane medical student.

Gold is a fourth-year medical student from Florida whose family has deep ties to Tulane.

New Orleans officials are hellbent on finding the gunman who shot a university medical student who was trying to save a woman being accosted.

Surveillance video shows a disturbing scene, which played out early Friday morning on Saint Mary Street in New Orleans, when the attacker, identified as Cain, dragged a woman to his SUV parked nearby.

In a statement, the New Orleans police said witnesses told police that both groups involved in the shooting ran off immediately after the gunfire.

Police say the man demanded money and shot Gold when he said he didn’t have any.

The footage then shows the gunman attempt to shoot the student in the head as he lies injured on the ground, but the gun then jammed. The gunman had attempted to shoot Gold a second time, but luckily, the gun jammed.

Tulane University announced Saturday that it was offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of Cain.

During a press conference held Monday afternoon, police spokesman Tyler Gamble revealed that Cain has given investigators a full confession following his arrest, reported the station WWLTV.

“Peter is really one of the nicest people you would ever meet, and he is an fantastic student, I’m sure, even in med school”, Adams said. His parents and sister attended Tulane as well, Fitts said.
