Police said Chavan was planning on dumping the head and the axe into a nearby lake.
According to an ABP News report, Ramu Chavan is 60 years old whereas his wife was 55. Chavan was arrested before he was taken to the police station and afterwards, his wife’s body was sent for postmortem. A resident informed the police control room.
A motorcyclist, in the meantime, informed the traffic personnel on duty at Rajesh society area about the man. He appears to be holding the smeared head of his wife by the hair.

The police have booked him under murder charges, while further investigations are under way.
